There seem to be a lot of sites to which you can submit articles. But I think my major worry always is - what should I write about. I would like to see someplace where there are guidelines on what topics should we cover in our articles. You have given very good guidelines on how to write the articles and where to submit them.

There are a lot of ezine directories, as they're called. These are basically places where you can write about anything you want in order to promote your site. Since a person's main goal using these sites is to promote their own site people write about what their site is so that they can attract more traffic. This is why these sites don't tell you what to write about, because they'll accept anything, even garbage sometimes. I hope this answers your question

Hi, I have submitted to a lot of articles directories. Steer away from the ones that print garbage, the traffic (if any) that you get back-will be garbage.
You can write on any subject you like-try to tie a topic into the theme of your website _______________ |

I have found that a lot of the writing directories are garbage. I was trying to get traffic from them and never seemed to get any. I don't know if I was doing something wrong but I gave up because it just wasn't worth my time.

I had started writing for reviewstream.com. The first two they paid me $1.50 for 300 words - which was ok for it gave me writing practise. But the next three they paid me $.30 for each. That was really not worth the effort. They ask you if you are willing to accept the bulk rate, and if you say no, the review never seems to get accepted.

I've heard this about that site as well which is why I haven't even given it a try. 30 cents for a review is simply not worth it to me, no matter how short the review has to be.

I agree - 30 cents is NOT worth it! I'm in the same boat as Mridula though and don't really know what to write about - or at least, a topic I could write about that would produce more than 1-2 articles. Do most people write reviews for products or just write their own thoughts? I'm wondering because I recently found a job post that said they were hiring bloggers but only to write about specific topics (that weren't specified in the post) and not about daily events. So now I'm curious what those specific topics might be.

There are a lot of these types of jobs on the Net. I normally write to them asking about the subjects. If they reply, I respond by telling them whether I can bid for it or not. If they do not reply, well all I have lost is some time.

I have 2 sites that I write for mainly. The 1 is Associated Content and they do send you a list of suggested topics each week. The other is Orble.com where I am going to be producing a blog about depression. Of course I also pick up other jobs here and there. Like was mentioned before, if they don't want to tell me when I request the topics then I've only lost about 5 minutes sending out the generic letter that I have saved for this purpose. A lot of times they do respond and I end up with some great contracts though.

Writing articles and submitting them for website promotion is a very good idea. You can write about anything not only the topics related to your website. But, you should put a link of your website. This is basically done to improve pagerank. This is what I think, more than visitors improving pagerank is its purpose. I hope I'm right.

RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS: the "recent changes" page of a wiki, a changelog of CVS checking, even the revision history of a book. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way. | |
