I was interested in maybe being a chat moderator for a forum and though I would just put that out there. Sorry if this is the wrong place to put that.. If anyone wants to email me about moderating feel free to do so! Thanks

You know I haven't ever heard of anyone being hired to do this kind of job. I think it would be a neat job to do. There are places that will hire you to moderate their chat rooms thoug. I can't think of any off the top of my head but they do exist.

I think I heard about someone being hired as a bingo moderator now that you mention it. I don't know how they did this though. I have never in my life seen anyone hiring for this type of job. If you find that link again please pass it my way. Thanks!

Yes, that's what I was saying is that most of the time this isn't a paying job. There are times when I wish that it was because it certainly would be fun LOL

It sounds like it would be an interesting job. How many hours would a moderator spend doing this kind of work. I live in New Delhi, so my hours would be different from yours, so I could not possibnly be an online moderator. Anyway there is no harm in getting the details !!

I would think that an online forum moderator would have to spend a great deal of time on that site. I mean look at Bubbles she's always around here helping us and giving us great advice and answers.

Well the whole point of the net is it dosen't matter where you are located. Mrildula, if you would like to be a moderator, your location is really not a problem
Im on here all day and if you were patroling different hours it could be a really good arrangment. Let me know if you would like to give it a try._______________ |

I would love to try this. I have no experience in it - and it would be a totally new field for me - but I am game to try it.
Do let me know if you would like to take me on at some time !! _______________ |

I am game as well!! I would love it. If you want! The other site where they hire them it is CMoftheyear.com. After looking that site over it seems that the bingo forums are not for me. I would pm you but I don't see that I can. You can email me if you want to do so!

I have moderated a few sites now and not trying to put you off at all but what Bubbles say's is true. The hours tend to be quite long depending on the visitors to the site and at times you are stuck in the middle of heated situations. It very much depends on the site of course but the best advice I can give is if you wish to moderate make sure the site subject is something you enjoy and have some experience in.

Wayne is definitely right. If you don't like what you're doing then you're not going to want to put the hours that are required into it. I think that this can be said about anything but this is especially true when moderating a chat room and I'd assume a chat board as well.

RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS: the "recent changes" page of a wiki, a changelog of CVS checking, even the revision history of a book. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way. | |
